Ghalegaun - Ghanpokhara trek |
|
Trekking to this trail offers a close
observation of the culture of Gurungs at
their home stays and through cultural
program. The local people perform
traditional Ghatu, Krishna Charitra,
Jhankri Lama dances for visitors dressed
in traditional attire. There are Gurung
pilgrimage sites in and around this
region, including the Samba Chhyoling
Gompa at Nassar Danda. Devotees throng
Ghalegaun during Maghe Sangranti, when a
fair is held at Uttar Kanya Temple.
The villages offer spectacular mountain
views when weather is clear. The peaks
such as Annapurna range, Lamjung, Ganesh
Himal, Manaslu and several other unnamed
can be seen from here. |

01 :

Drive from
Kathmandu to
Khudi via
Bimalnagar which
takes about six
hours.
On the way you
can hike to
Siddha Cave from
Bimalnagar and
explore the
Cave. In
addition you can
tour Buddhist
monasteries at
Khudi. You can
walk along River
Marshyangdi and
observe local
lifestyle.

Day
02 :

Trek from Khudi
to Ghalegaun
(2,095m) and it
takes about four
hours.
Here you can
enjoy the
magnificent
views of sunrise
and sunset. The
mountain views
of Mt. Annapurna
and Manaslu
ranges and river
valley add
another
dimension to
this trek. The
Himalyan culture
dance offered on
the way amuses
the trekkers.
Ghalegaun is a
traditional
Gurung village
situated in the
lap of the
Annapurna range.
Here you are
offered in depth
experience of
the culture of
the Gurungs at
their home stays
and through
cultural
programs. There
are Gurung

hour.
You hike from
Ghalegaun to
Ghanpokhara. You

Manaslu ranges.
You can
experience the
village tour.
Ghanpokhara is
about 100m above
Ghalegaun.

Khudi and it takes about
five hours.
This day you can see
waterfall and cave. You
can also visit
construction site of
Khudi Hydro Electricity

to Kathmandu
